Sunimal Rathnayake
PhD(NUS, Singapore), BSc Engineering (Hons.) (Moratuwa, Sri Lanka)
I am a Senior Lecturer at the Department of Computer Science and Engineering at the University of Moratuwa, Sri Lanka. I earned my PhD in Computer Science from the National University of Singapore in 2020 under supervision of Prof. Teo Yong Meng. Prior to that, I obtained my BSc Engineering degree specializing in Computer Science and Engineeing from University of Moratuwa, Sri Lanka in 2014.
I am interested in all kinds of computer systems research including but not limited to cloud computing, parallel and distributed computing, computer architecture, and computer systems performance engineering. Predominantly, my current research is focused on investigating optimization sweet spots for optimizing cost, time and energy usage of applications exeuting on clouds. I am also interested in and currently working on implemneting architectural support for trust preservation in computer systems such as cloud computing platforms.
Being a senior lecturer at a predominantly teaching university, I teach many courses for undergraduate students of all levels as well as postgraduate students. I offer computer systems courses such as Advanced Computer Architecture, Advanced Networking, Fault Tolerant Computingm Software Development on Cloud Platforms as well as security related courses such as Network Security and Embedded Systems Security.
